Frequently Asked Questions

Your fuel questions, answered.

What does ‘Ready to Burn’ Mean ?

The Ready to Burn certification is a UK government-backed initiative aimed at promoting cleaner, more environmentally friendly wood fuels for home use. It ensures that firewood and briquettes sold in smaller quantities meets strict moisture content and environmental standards.

How should I store my firewood?

For best results, store your kiln dried firewood in a well ventilated, sheltered area – such as a log store, garage or shed – with the logs raised off the ground. Keep the crate or stack protected from direct moisture while allowing good airflow so the wood stays dry and in top burning condition.

What is the difference between loose and stacked volume?

Loose volume refers to the space taken up by logs when they are loosely loaded or poured into a container – this is the UK industry and legal standard. Stacked volume measures the space the logs take up when neatly arranged. Because stacked logs are tightly packed, the stacked volume is typically more than a third less than loose volume. Knowing both measurements helps you choose the right amount you need for your space and appliance.
