Known for being a darker, slightly chunkier hardwood, this is the go-to firewood for all-round consistent performance and easy fire lighting. Birch

Birch firewood is a light-coloured firewood and a user-friendly option for beginners and frequent burners alike. Traditionally used by Scandinavians for centuries, birch produces a fierce and intense flame. It burns quickly and for a shorter duration than our other firewood (70 minutes) but its versatility makes it a popular choice. The silvery bark is paper-like which assists with firefighting, making it the most convenient firewood for any use.

We recommend birch for wood fired pizza ovens as it’ll reach high temperatures quickly to achieve that golden pizza crust.

Hornbeam

Hornbeam is our premium quality firewood and known as the ultimate performer. This rarer hardwood creates a high heat output that lasts 120 minutes. We are one of few exclusive suppliers of Hornbeam. It has burn duration qualities similar to Oak, while producing a bright flame similar to what Ash produces. More love and care required for this wood - hornbeam is incredibly dense which means it spends longer in kiln in order to reach low moisture levels. This makes it our most expensive firewood. You may need firelighters for this wood, but once lit, that flame will remain consistent and bright.

We recommend hornbeam logs for woodburners or chimineas so that you can make the most of the warmth while refuelling less often.

Oak

Oak is seen as the romantic choice and is our longest burning firewood. With a slow and steady burn, it was once used for yule logs during midwinter traditions and kept burning for twelve nights after Christmas eve. Oak generates more heat while producing a low flame for up to 140 minutes. It's our densest firewood, with a tighter grain that means it takes longer to light, but has an unmatched burn duration once lit. Use firelighters to make the process easier.

This firewood is ideal in larger stoves and works well for overnight burning.
