Which Briquette is Right for You?
White Horse Energy sells three different types of wood briquettes - the Pini-Kay, RUF and Nestro. Choosing a heat log is just as important as choosing firewood, depending on your use case and your appliance. Read on for the comprehensive guide, explaining the features of each briquette and our recommendations for each one. Known as our longest burning briquette, the Nestro log is our bestseller and it’s easy to see why. When you’re seeking a reliable source of heat and a clean burn, Nestro will deliver. They are compacted into a cylindrical shape and the high density of this slightly chunkier briquette means that they have a significant energy output and will expand when burned. Its minimal ash content makes it easier to clear out and maintain your appliance.
Nestro is the ideal option for people that rely on wood burners as a main heating source in their homes. We recommend that you add Nestro to an already lit source, by starting with firelighters and kindling. Once the fire is burning, you won’t have to get up from your seat to refuel it for a long while.
Make your fuel go further by choosing our best performing briquette. Its hexagonal shape gives it more surface area, helping it to catch alight and burn effectively, while the hole in the middle allows for air circulation, which then oxygenates the fire to create a fiercer, brighter flame. Although slightly more expensive, each briquette is energy dense and designed to produce very little ash, making it an economical choice.
Pini-kay logs are versatile in any appliance, but we recommend taking this on your next camping trip as an alternative to firewood. This fuel will see you through breezy nights under the starry skies, as well as acting as a great heat source for roasting your marshmallows over.
Being our best value briquette, the RUF is suitable for all budgets and all homes. This briquette’s small brick shape makes it stackable and suitable for all storage spaces. It’s easy to break and light, which means that you won’t be caught in a tight spot if you find yourself in need of heat and light in a snap.
Because of its size, it’s a great choice for smaller stoves and log burners and it’s so light that you’ll be able to take it anywhere. You should always have a pack of these stored in your car boot or your log store.
